About Dental Implants:
Dental implants are the ideal treatment to replace missing teeth. Advantages of dental implants over other options include:

Preservation of bone, often allowing for better esthetic results

Preservation of tooth structure on surrounding teeth

Increased chewing forces

Fixed/non-removable from mouth

Longer lasting than any other restorations, in fact, they are considered the “most permanent” dental restoration to date.

Easier to clean (can floss in between natural teeth and implant as opposed to having to thread underneath a bridge)
About the procedure:
Dental implants can be easily placed with standard dental anesthesia and do not require being sedated. A typical placement appointment lasts about 1 to 1 and a half hours. Most patients have less post operative pain with implants than with dental extractions (teeth pulled). In certain cases, implants can be placed at the time of the extraction. Most implants require 4 to 6 months of healing before final restoration. Every case is different and must be evaluated carefully. In some instances, other procedures such as sinus lifts or bone grafting must be completed before placement of a dental implant.
